These two-of-a-kind large butterfly-cut ammonite originated in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and date from the Jurassic period (165 million years ago), based on the formation that they were collected from. These two are the only ones there are. Because each is half of the same fossil, they are mirror-images of one another.
The stone is about 2" across, and the beige and brown agate is set off by a thin tracery of hematite, which outlines the shape of the original animal. Spider-I is wrapped in 22-gauge gold-filled wire. Spider-II is wrapped in 22-gauge sterling silver wire. Both suspend from our proprietary "ram's horn" bale.
